Tonbridge Swimming Pool roof works brought forward

TSP outdoor pool

Tonbridge & Malling Borough Council together with tmactive have brought forward essential roof works to Tonbridge Swimming Pool while the borough is in lockdown.

The eight week project, previously scheduled for the autumn, will now start on 4 May 2020. It will involve replacing roof tiles and upgrading insulation to reduce energy use. The contractors will be adhering to the government’s distancing requirements.

While the works are in progress it will be necessary to close the new pedestrian bridge from the Racecourse Sportsground to the pool. Alternative footpaths will be signposted.

If lockdown rules are changed to allow re-opening while the works are being carried out, the outdoor pool will need to remain closed for safety reasons.

Martin Guyton, Chief Executive of tmactive said: “We hope that by doing this work now while the pool is already closed, we can minimise the inconvenience to our customers and look forward to welcoming them back when we are able to re-open.”
