Leybourne Lakes Ranger Team looking for volunteers to undertake field surveys

The Leybourne Lakes Ranger team is looking for volunteers to undertake field surveys to record the plants and animals present.

Volunteer Field StudyWorking together in pairs, volunteers are required to make regular visits to the park to undertake this research. The Ranger Team will be available to help and support. Ideally, they are looking for people who have previous experience of this type of volunteering, however, free, basic online training is available to those without experience – see links below.

The wildlife surveys that need to be completed include:

  • Recording of amphibians, pond surveys and egg searches in April and June. Some free basic training from the UK Amphibian and Reptile Trust
  • Bat surveys in June, July, August and October. Some free basic training is available from the UK Bat Conservation Trust
  • Monthly reptile surveys from April to October. Some free basic training from the UK Amphibian and Reptile Trust
  • Small mammal live trapping surveys between January and April. For basic information on what is involved view here

Anyone wishing to take part and volunteer to help shape the future of the Country Park should email leybournelakes@tmactive.co.uk.
